The fall / winter red fishing has been amazing in Florida's Panhandle. From Carrabelle Florida to Port St Joe we have been finding  consistently good numbers of fish. Last week I was fishing some really good flats near Panama City Beach I couldn't believe the size of the redfish. Speckled trout fishing has been amazing as well around Apalachicola.  It’s been a good fall to say the least! But all I can think about is spring time fishing trips. Florida’s forgotten coast has so much to offer all anglers.  It's a absolutely amazing fly fishing destination any where from Panama City Beach to St George Island Florida.

Who's ready to go fishing in the marsh. If you're not like a kid waiting on Christmas then you should be. I'm heading over next week to start fishing. The stoke is real! Getting the reels loaded up with some fresh fly lines and tying up a pile of red fish flies. I'm just switching gears getting ready for that fall & winter season.  

It’s that time of year folks! Summer time and the livings easy. Sight fishing is amazing this time of year because there’s so much to see. There are so many good angling opportunities to be had this time of year! Tarpon is my main target but that’s far from all there is todo. Sharks , jacks , red and monster black drum all present themselves and provide adrenaline packed fly fishing fun.

I wanted to take a minute to share an amazing day throwing topwater plugs for redfish. Jim joined me at the dock for a super fun light tackle fishing trip. We left out in some super foggy conditions. The first three spots we tried to fish this morning didn't work for a bunch of reasons. The weather was definitely going to make us earn it today. The bugs and the fog were not letting up the fishing conditions where terrible. We just kept pushing on. The forth flat we had a big redfish blow up and explode the top water plug a foot in the air. The plug landed in the toilet bowl left over from eruption. As soon as the plug hit the water Jim twitched it once and the water erupted again. Fish On! Finally. But the celebration was short lived. After a hard drag peeling run the line went slack.  We were left disappointed, wet and cold. At this point I proceeded to keep looking for Jim a redfish. Shortly after this morning of unfortunate events and conditions we moved to anther little spot and man alive did we find the redfish. Just goes to show why you should never give up no matter how tuff the day is.

It looks like it’s going to be a early spring this year! The flowers on the Forgotten Coast are in full bloom! I didn’t stop fishing to talk about landscaping. So let’s get to the bite!
It’s still early but In between weather fronts the fishing has been great. Super size large bull reds in gin clear water is what’s been going on. Couple that with a few size large black drum tailing and feeding along the flats and oyster bars. It’s the recipe for success coupled with a few well placed cast.
Tarpon season will be here in Florida’s Forgotten Coast before you know it. This is definitely on of my favorite times of year. I’m spending my spare time day dreaming about these magical fish dancing on the water. It will be here before you know it so book your days.

I just wanted to share some fishing fun from St George Island Florida. All summer we have been catching some great fish on our fly fishing trips. Tarpon fishing has been great on the beaches of Panama City. These fish are truly a magical fishing experience though out the entire Florida Panhandle. All summer long you can count on opportunities to catch tarpon 80 to 200 pounds. Out of the home port of Carrabelle Florida the speckled trout bite has been as good as I've ever seen. Anglers on are inshore fishing charters are catch them on top water crease flies. We had a lot of fun out in the Marshes of South Louisiana this fall. And I was really excited to get out and see what everything looked like around Carrabelle and St George Island. Well it looked pretty good! Plenty of reds and some big trout are what’s in the mix. I’m super stoked about summer and have very few days left open.
